Six English Premier League (EPL) teams are in trouble for failing to comply with new rules that require them to offer adult jersey replicas that don’t showcase their front-of-shirt gambling sponsor.

These new, across-the-board requirements came into effect in July in the upper levels of professional soccer in England, along with eliminating these logos from apparel for children.

Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Everton, Brentford, and Aston Villa

Pitch Inspection’s investigation uncovered that Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Everton, Brentford, and Aston Villa did not have such jerseys for sale. Another five EPL teams also have this type of front-of-shirt sponsor and comply with the new rules: Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Leicester, West Ham, and Wolves.

Ten clubs were also found breaching the new rules in September when they still showcased gambling sponsors on jerseys in under-18 games and in certain European competitions when forbidden.

Gambling sponsors are still big business for clubs despite a ban coming into place ahead of the 2026-2027 season on having them appear on the front of shirts. Some of these operators are questionable Asia-focused brands that has been under scrutiny for allegedly offering illegal gambling services.
